Students from around the District were selected for the first cohort of the Kansas City Scholars program (KC Scholars).

The KC Scholars program awarded scholarships of $10,000, renewable for up to five years, to eleventh-graders from 74 high schools in the six-county Kansas City region. Ninth-graders were awarded College Incentive Scholarships and could earn up to $7,000 for college when they graduate from high school.
Students selected from Raytown High School include juniors Holly Johnson, Sam Miles, Iliana Miller, and Alexis Mitchell.

Students selected as KC Scholars from Raytown South include juniors Arianna Arnett, Terrell Dawson, Brandon Guzman, Camron Jones, Kala Lanear, Xyanne Purnell, and Abigail Ruhman. Raytown South freshmen selected to receive College Incentive Scholarships include Mickkel Mitchell, Huzaifa Nadeem, and Diamond Snow.

In order to receive a scholarship, students must attend one of 17 colleges or universities in the KC Scholars network. Students are also required to complete GPA and graduation requirements their senior year in order to receive the scholarship.

The KC Scholars program is a part of The Kauffman Foundation and seventy-seven percent of recipients, across the metro, will be first-generation college students.
