Raytown Quality Schools received the Edington CBIZ Next Practice Award for Self-Leadership. The Edington Next Practice awards program identifies organizations that are using innovative well-being practices and programs to cultivate a high-performing culture.

Organizations are considered based on the following five core pillars: Senior Leadership, Operational Leadership, Self-Leadership, Recognition and Rewards, and Quality Assurance. Raytown Quality Schools received a Next Practice Award in Self-Leadership.

The district also received a Great Beginnings Award in senior leadership and operational leadership. Great Beginnings recognizes organizations that are on the short path to becoming Next Practice Award winners.

Only the top organizations in the application process were invited to apply for the award. Associate Superintendent of Operations Dr. Steve Shelton, said “Our efforts to improve the quality of life of our staff members we hope, will result in higher student achievement as well as the retention of high-performing staff members who are healthier and happier.”

Raytown Quality Schools is one of only two districts in the Kansas City area to receive a Next Practice Award. The panel of judges was comprised of 20 experts in the well-being and human resources field.  Judges were asked to recognize the organizations that were most engaged in innovative and creative well-being initiatives.
